I'm about to buy a 1.5-6 scope for a long action bolt rifle and cannot decide between the 4200 1.5-6x36 and the SII 1.5-6x42. Have any of you used or compared both? Obviously, I need to move fast for either one as they are both in decreasing supply, raining off of everybody's shelves now that both are discontinued. Thanks for any insight . . .

I happen to have both. The Sightron is a bit cheaper at around $200, and seems very well made. I have it mounted to a 30/30 Marlin and so far -so good.It has commendable clarity, and holds a zero well.

The 4200 can be had for about $250 now ( recently discontinued) , and is just a bit optically superior and also has Rainguard. I have one mounted to a Marlin 45/70, a Winchester 338 Mag, and an Encore 50cal muzzleloader  I have had nothing but great service ,and for the  extra 50 bucks  I'd go for the 4200 .

Good luck hunting  with whichever you choose

Grab the 4200! I own a 3X9..............Great clarity and resolution in all magnifications as well as Rainguard..........The 4200`s are an excellent buy for the money!
