interesting. I understand the part about it being a quality gun, but I dont understand why. 223 is going subsonic, and assuming it passes transonic and your bullet is built so it doesnt tumble when it comes out the other side. it still becomes 22lr. |

(Quote, This AR is a factory production model but, don't be fooled, this gun shoots under 1/2 MOA with proper ammunition. Quote.) As do a lot of "quality" AR's with "proper ammo". Great selling point to folks who don't give it too much thought. My daughter's Bushmaster Varminter will do it with ammo I load for it. |

If we ever go to war with 10" plates, that is the gun I want - or the shooter I want shooting.
Some claims are a bit dubious.

I have shot my AR-Pistol on steel with 69 grain SMK's at 1150 yards. Burris Signature ZEE and a LR/T Leupy with ART reticle (SFP). 7T Rock barrel.
Never tried 1400 yards before with it though. |

He was using a SS 5-20x, he didn't need that much. |

Good shooting, but they should probably figure out there is difference between a cartridge's "effective range" and a cartridge's "I bet I can hit something way out there range".

Not applicable but made me think of this. R.I.P. rounds Not satisfied with the destructive power of hollow-point bullets or large-caliber guns? G2 Research has you covered with the new "Radically Invasive Projectile" (R.I.P., clever) an exploding bullet they say can "take the civilian and law enforcement markets by storm, and truly become the last round you’ll ever need." The end of the article read, The only way to reliably drop someone in close to one shot is to use a shotgun or a rifle. So arguably, there's no reason to buy a fancy flesh-shredding round at all other than the novelty factor. Or if you wanted to cause maximum pain and suffering. The bottom line: The new bullet is sure to have gun owners drooling, but with potentially limited application in home defense and nastier wounds, R.I.P. is a dubious purchase. Watching this video shows this in not a good round for hostage recovery. |

Wow, what an amazing lack of energy! Really good optics to be able to see impacts at that range... Probably would be better if they chambered it in 6.5 Grendel.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Years ago I read about a serious over-bore .22, As I recall it was loaded in an /06 case w/ a 125 grn. pill. Supposedly killed elk like lighting. If you wanted a .22 to go downtown and do something when it got there, I'm thinking that would be the .22 to do it /w.
Barrel life would be what,,? Under 2000 rnds. I'm thinking.
