Is there a better binocular for the money then the vortex fury in 10x42?  Looking for a 10x42 or 10x50.

The Fury is a very good glass for the money.  As to the best for that price, well that's another deal.  Lots of good glass at that price level.  The Fury is currently offline ,so to speak, while Vortex irons out a diopter adjustment problem.  I have a 6.5x32 Fury which I am waiting on its replacement.  Optically that is top notch.  I also have a 10x42 Viper which I think is a little better glass than the Fury.

Wildnorthern: In that price range, 10x roof prism binoculars are quite bad. I suggest that you look into a 8x instead, or check out the porro prism models.
Here are a few suggestions bellow $200:
Vortex Diamondback 8x42 (420 ft field of view!!!!) at $200; also, brands such as Leupold, Bushnell, Pentax, Nikon, Sightron, Swift have very good 8x42 porro prism models, certainly much better than the equally priced roof prism models.

Spend a little more, some 300-500 dollars.

I have played the 10x game several years. I have convinced myself that I can see something more at 10x part of the time. So I traded in my Zeiss, that had great optics, heck it cost me over 700. But it was disused , too heavy for me. Now I  have gone for a Pentax, it should work for a long while. I use 8x much of the time, 10x a lot in winter, but even there I have a scope.

If I ever get interested in more, I may wait to see what new stuff comes out, I have wanted a good 9x32 for some time, none are made. But more likely my first alpha glass will be 8x.
