Is there a decent 3-9x40 out there for $100.00?

Apparently the new Simmons is going to fit that bill.

If your in need for a scope right away?  We have some of the Simmons 44 mag scopes left.  The 3-10X44 IMO has always been well worth the price.

If you don't mind the wait, check out the new Master series when they become available.

The Simmons master series Prohunter sounds like a good scope, when will they be available?

If I was wanting a decent 3x9 there is a 3x9 burris fullfield on the samples list for $119. That way you are getting what was a pretty high quality scope 10-15 years ago vs a cheaper outsourced scope today. I would imagine it is a trade in but Burris scopes carry their forever warranty so there s/b some security there. Just my .02

SWFA lists the discontinued Pentax Pioneer at $110. Reportedly it is the same scope as the Burris Fullfield II.

So what's the deal with the new Simmons? I've been fairly happy with Simmons I've used. Not thrilled, but they have worked and held zero. However, I know a lot of people hate them. Is this new one an huge improvement? Or just a new one?

If you can stretch another $20 out of your budget, you will be really happy with one of these.

It's not a 40mm bell, but it's clear and bright. It's also pretty light weight which helps out on a hunting rifle. Everyone that has looked through mine has been impressed with the clarity.

The Trophy line from Bushnell is also good glass for the money. I have both and think the timberline is clearer. I do have a little less field of view than the 40, but what I can see is very clear.
