Alot has to deal with brand not just the base configuration.  A nice two piece will be just fine for a hunting rig.  If its been workign on there, no need to change. The trend of one pieces come in to play more when you start talking about longer ranges and precission shooting.  Not that 2pc don't exist there too.

It's easier to insure a stress-free mount if you start with a quality one-piece base and bed it to your receiver.  Then you know you have a straight, stress-free base on which to bolt your quality rings.  This all adds up to a nice, stress-free mount for your optics.
