Okay so I'm all set to purchase the Burris Euro Diamond 1.5-6x40 and it will be going on a Browning BAR LW stalker in 308 with 20" tube. I'll be removing the factory sights so they dont interfere with the scope.

I either want a 1 piece mount like the deadnutz or I'd like to mount a pictinnay rail and it looks like EGW makes one for the BAR. If I went with the rail I think I'd want a 1 piece quick detach ring/mount. I know they make a lot of them for AR's that are pretty sweet but I'm not sure how high they hold the scope. One thing I know for sure is I want this scope AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.

Can someone help me with some options to get this thing as low as possible in some picatinny rail quick detach options as well as a 1 piece. I'm totally open to brand name so if you have options that will work sweet let me know.

It won't interfere with the sights.  I have a couple BARs and a scope will clear them just fine.

If you are worried about seeing the front sight in the scope, even if you take it off you will still see the barrel until about 3x.  That is just the way low powered scopes are.

Talley ring mounts will be your best option if you want it low.  EGW bases are very high.  Buy low talley mounts for it and it will be very low.

How long are your barrel's and are you seeing the entire thing or just the tip?

Also like I said I'm not set on either of the options that I mentioned so if there is something that will work better let me know. I didn't think the EGW Picatinny rail looked very high to me. Definetly look slimmer then the weaver bases I have on my bolt gun now.
Here it is.

I guess this is what I had in mind on top of a rail but I'm not sure how low this sits.

I can see my 16" ar barrels below 3x.  That is just part of using a low powered scope.

That BOBRO mount is made for an AR.  It will put it way to high.

Just curious, why do you want quick detach?  Especially if you are taking off the iron sights, I just don't see the point.

I just like the idea of a solid 1 piece quick detach. For the 1st few years of having this gun it may be my primary gun but down the road as the collection grows this could turn into a specialized gun that I throw a red dot on and use for only deer drives in the thick brush or certian stand locations. I figured if i had rail style mounts on all my rifles I could swap things around.

If what I want to do wont work I'll probably just get a dead nutz one piece aluminum mount. I like the idea of a 1 piece mount, always have always will. Will the 30mm low work?

I guess my question is do they make an AR style quick detach mount that is designed to sit real low on a bolt or traditional semi?

Well these work well. And will allow you to keep it quite low on the EGW mount.  http://swfa.com/ARMS-22L-Throw-Lever-30mm-Rings-P6069.aspx

These are good as well. http://swfa.com/Warne-Maxima-Quick-Detach-30mm-Rings-P9950.aspx

I have had both and they both do a pretty good job at returning the zero.

I'd rather have talley one piece aluminum scope rings than the DNZ setup.  just looks cleaner and they are a bit more tested and recommended

Leave the sights alone until proven that they interfere with actual mounting of the scope.  (1) it leaves you workable sights in the unlikely event you scrap the scope in the field,  (2) It ain't broke, don't fix it. (3)  If the iron sights are dovetailed in, you will need to fit, blend and re-blue inserts to take the place of the sights.

The one piece mount makes sense in that most scopes have aluminum bodies and most rifles have steel receivers, aluminum and steel when heated expand/contract at different rates and to different degrees.  Theoretically this could cause stress if you use two piece bases.  I like a one piece aluminum base or rail with whatever rings I fancy at the time.

Go ahead and get the 1913 rail and a set of rings, If you really want, you can get QD rings but I have not yet gotten my moneys worth out of any of the ones I own.  Maybee If I only had one scope and traded it every week or so but in real life that has not yet happened.

As far as height goes, go ahead and get the EGW rail and a set of medium rings, with lows, you run the chance of them being too short and having to re-order your rings in medium.  My latest mount is a SA Rem 700, 20MOA EGW aluminum rail and WARNE Maxima Med. rings.  rail and rings together cost me $60.00 with postage (dealer pricing ya know) and leave me approximately 1/4" between the barrel and the objective.  Some of my other installs have less clearance and prevent the use of my scope covers.

I admit the Maxima rings take a bit of getting used to, but they have the great advantage or gripping the scope and mounts along the same plane as opposed to attaching the rings to the mount, then installing the scope with separate caps and the last install I did like this lined up to within 1"@100yd windage adjustment.

Any to sum up, get the rail, get some (quality) permanent rings of medium height and go out and shoot it.  You can always go out later and spend loads of money with fancy quick dis-connect options that cost as much as a hunting quality 3x9 ($150-$200) or you can wait until you have another rifle in need of glass and then decide whether to switch the scope you have back and forth, buy a new scope for the new rifle or buy a new scope for this rifle and put this one on the new rifle.

I would just wait for your scope to come in and then give SWFA a call...

Oh and I forgot to mention, that no-matter what type of mounting solution you use, if you switch it to another rifle you WILL have to re-zero the scope every single time it switches.
