I recently purchased a Kimber rimfire rifle in 0.17 HMR and intend to use it for small game hunting with shots in the 10-50 yard range.  Is it better to get a scope with an adjustable objective or one of the rimfire scopes with a fixed parallax adjusted for 60 yards?  My concern with the fixed scopes are focus at short distances and my concern with the adjustable objectives is the constant need to alter the scope.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Given the ranges you are talking about, why even worry about parallax? Get the fixed...

Yep, I wouldn't worry about an AO at all with that range.  I tried to get some feedback on the 4x from Leupold and didn't really have much luck.  I'm going to get it anyway and give it a try.  It'll be on my 22 semi-auto Browning.

I am a little concerned about focusing at short distances too, but I think it will be ok.  I'll post my results.  Should have it by the end of the week.

O' holy Moses on the mountain, man.
Why in heavens name would you buy such a beautiful gun and bullet for 10-60 yds.
I use my Savage 93 with BSA Sweet 17 and very bright red light for night shooting coyote, pack dogs, and assorted small varmints.
My range is 75-300 yd head shot and all you see is about 10 secs of quivering and its all over.
I'm very satisfied with the V-Max becuz I never see an exit wound, so it's truly a humane way to end the movie if that's what you're looking for.
PLEASE get a .22 LR for the short range and then really put that 17hmr thru the tests.  I promise you'll love it.

BS FlagIf the OP wishes to use his new rifle in that fashion it's his choice. Do you represent the firearm usage police? I have a Browning T Bolt in .17HMR and do understand your comments. However, it's his money, his choice. Just my opinion.

You will love the 17 HMR  It shoots like a laser. I have a 2-7X36 on mine and you can see well at close distance. When up close its usually at lowest setting. . Shots to 150 yards is not a problem at 7X. The 17 HMR's high velocity produces a lot of meat damage on small game when shot under 60 yards.

Let's see; you're allowed to make a comment, but get chastised for making it.  Good grief.  If you actually read the post it was in praise of the 17hmr for varmint, small & large hunting.  It was not designed as a contest.  Someone should have been able to figure out the post was a whimsical jest by the opening line:   "O holy Moses on the mountain,..."
If you're offended by that, I'll have to erase it from my synagogue notes this Shabbat.
